GAN17 MAGDRIVE FLAGSHIP OVERVIEW

GAN17 MagDrive is GAN's Magnetic Drive flagship 3x3 speed cube. It combines the Celestial Magnetic-Dynamic System, Full-Angle Navigation, Maglev, Omni-support Spherical Orbit and Full-Freedom Numerical Tuning to coordinate magnetic drive, structural support and tuning throughout a turn.

GAN17 MAGDRIVE: INSIDE GAN'S 196-MAGNET FLAGSHIP 3x3

A flagship speed cube has to solve a difficult engineering problem: it must be fast without becoming unstable. GAN17 MagDrive approaches that problem through a much more explicit systems design than a conventional "more magnets, more speed" formula.

GAN17 MagDrive uses the all-new Celestial Magnetic-Dynamic System with a record-setting 196 magnets, built around One Magnet Core and Three Magnet Realms for Full-Angle Navigation.

CELESTIAL MAGNETIC-DYNAMIC SYSTEM: ONE MAGNET CORE, THREE MAGNET REALMS

The three Magnet Realms are the Core Realm, Relay Realm and Alignment Realm. GAN describes them as working with the Magnet Core in one magnetic flow, connecting the inner and outer system throughout the turn.

At the center sits a newly miniaturized 17.5 mm magnetic core containing 20 magnets. The reduced core size creates additional internal space for the surrounding magnetic architecture.

40-Magnet Core Magnetic Drive

Powered by a 40-Magnet Core Magnetic Drive, the Core/Dynamic Realm consist of 20 core magnets, 12 edge bottom-core magnets and 8 corner bottom-core magnets. This inner magnetic zone is positioned as the main driving force supporting Full-Angle Navigation.

96-MAGNET Relay Realm

The Relay Realm contains 96 magnets. GAN lists 24 core bottom magnets, 24 center stalk magnets and 48 stalk & wing magnets in edges. This layer as a bridge between the inner core system and the outer positioning system.

This Realm also introduces magnetic repulsion. Magnetic pairs repel each other to reduce resistance during the suspended guidance process, while attraction and repulsion work together across the system.

48-MAGNET Alignment Realm

The outer Alignment Realm contains 48 magnets: 24 edge-side magnets and 24 corner-side magnets. Its job is straightforward but critical—help the outer pieces align accurately as a layer approaches its position.

FULL-FREEDOM NUMERICAL TUNING

GAN17 MagDrive uses the Magnetic GES System with Maglev, while 12 magnetic tension gears × 6 center-travel gears create 72 Gears of Tension.

Magnetic feel is also adjustable. Full-Freedom Magnetic Turning provides 3-gear corner magnet rods—strong, medium and light—plus detachable edge magnet rods that can enable or disable edge magnetic repulsion.

OMNI-SUPPORT SPHERICAL ORBIT: SPEED AND STABILITY

Beyond its magnetic system, GAN17 features our Omni-support Spherical Orbit technology, along with an Ultra Hollow Design, Flexible Space, a Honeycomb Touch Face with Tracks, and Dual-Locking-Tab Center Caps. Together, these innovations are designed to deliver a smoother, more flexible, and more precise solving experience.

These elements are designed to address a common challenge in high-TPS solving: pieces must remain supported and coordinated while still having enough corner cutting ability to move through imperfect turns.

WHO IS GAN17 MAGDRIVE FOR?

GAN17 MagDrive is positioned for advanced and competition-focused cubers who care about magnetic alignment, tuning range and stability. Its biggest value is not any single magnet count or adjustment number; it is the way the magnetic, maglev and structural systems are designed to work together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes GAN17 MagDrive different from a conventional magnetic speed cube?

GAN17 MagDrive is built as an integrated magnetic-drive system rather than relying on a single layer of piece-to-piece magnets. Its Celestial Magnetic-Dynamic System combines One Magnet Core, Three Magnet Realms, Full-Angle Navigation, Maglev and structural support so magnetic drive, alignment and stability work together throughout a turn.

What does “MagDrive” mean on GAN17?

MagDrive refers to GAN17's Magnetic Drive approach to full-turn navigation. The magnetic core and three magnetic realms are designed to keep magnetic forces working across different stages of rotation instead of only assisting near final alignment.

Can GAN17 MagDrive be tuned for different turning styles?

Yes. GAN17 combines 72 numerical tension configurations with adjustable corner magnet rods and detachable edge magnet rods, allowing cubers to change mechanical feel and magnetic response to suit different turning preferences.

Is GAN17 MagDrive suitable for competitive speedcubing?

GAN17 MagDrive is positioned for advanced and competition-focused cubers who value magnetic alignment, a wide tuning range and stability during high-speed turning.
